BEACH CITY – The Beach City Summer Bash and Car Show will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 19, at Beach City Community Park, 225 Third Ave. SW. There will be a 50/50 raffle, food trucks, vendor fair, raffle baskets, veterans’ information, deejay and band. DOVER – Dan Condo, the education and program manager at the Age of Steam Roundhouse Museum in Sugarcreek, will be the guest speaker at the Lunch & Learn at 12:15 p.m. July 17, at the Tuscarawas County Senior Center, 425 Prospect St. He will introduce the world’s largest private collection of steam locomotives, encapsulated inside the first roundhouse structure built since the 1950s. Learn to crochet
DOVER – Cathleen Misko and Sherri Perry will teach three sessions of beginning crochet from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on three consecutive Wednesdays in July, at the Dover Public Library. On July 16 attendees can learn to make a friendship bracelet by completing a simple chain, on July 23 they will learn to make a bookmark and on July 30 they will make granny squares. Pomerene Hospital names new CEO
MILLERSBURG – Anne Gunther has been selected CEO of Pomerene Hospital. She has been interim chief executive officer for the past three months. During her 35 years with Aultman Health System, Gunther has served in executive nursing and healthcare operational roles including system chief nursing executive; vice president heart and vascular; women’s and children’s services; and cancer services.
Explore Ohio crimes
NEW PHILADELPHIA – Local author Wendy Koile will present Shades of Darkness: Ohio Crimes at 6:30 p.m. July 24, at the Tuscarawas County Public Library. Koile will delve into Ohio’s criminal history through detailed investigations, historical accounts, and expert insights. Foundation for Appalachian Ohio scholarships awarded
NEW PHILADELPHIA – Two Tuscarawas County students have been awarded Foundation for Appalachian Ohio scholarships. Kiersten Lawton of Newcomerstown and Riley Positano of New Philadelphia received the Bob Evans and Wayne F. White Legacy Scholarship. Lawton, a 2025 Newcomerstown High School graduate, plans to attend Kent State University’s Tuscarawas Campus. Positano, a 2025 Indian Valley High School graduate, plans to attend Kent State University.
