Cedar Point’s stellar lineup of roller coasters will be missing one of its stars on opening day.
The Sandusky amusement park will open Saturday, May 9, but the Magnum XL-200 coaster will not be up and running.
Park spokesperson Tony Clark said there’s no reason for thrill seekers to panic.
“The ride’s winter rehab is not complete,” Clark said. “We anticipate it will open soon.”
The coaster made its debut in 1989 and was a record breaker at the time.
It was the first so-called hyper coaster and first to top 200 feet and was the fastest and steepest coaster in the world.
Situated near the Lake Erie shoreline, it was designated a Roller Coaster Landmark in 2004 by the American Coaster Enthusiast group.
