Sundara, which means beautiful in Nepali, will celebrate her first birthday on June 17.

Zoo spokesman Elena Bell said Sundara will have to take some time to get to know the zoo’s resident Red Panda Lulu before she is able to make her public debut.

Bell said guests will be able to tell Sundara from Lulu as her tail was amputated when she was a young cub as the result of an injury.

Sundara replaces Penny who died in January 2024 at the Akron Zoo after a brief illness.

The Akron Zoo is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
