Summit County deputies plan sobriety checkpoints on St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick’s Day revelers should be aware: Sobriety checkpoints will be held across the county, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office says.

The sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post that the checkpoints will be held on March 17 into early March 18. The sheriff’s office does not release the location of the checkpoints in advance.

Stark County law enforcement will also hold checkpoints. The Stark County Sheriff’s Office said the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has reported that 38% of the traffic fatalities that occurred during St. Patrick’s Day holidays between 2019 and 2023 involved drunken drivers.
