Littell previously served as director of the Kirtland Public Library. She has a master’s degree in library and information science from Kent State University.

“Missy is an exceptional leader whose values align with our mission of serving the Stow and Munroe Falls communities,” said Carla Wyckoff, president of the library’s board, in a news release. “She brings a thoughtful, collaborative approach, a passion for public service, and an exciting vision for the future. We are excited to welcome her to our library.”

Littell takes over from Gale Koritansky, who left in February to take a new job as the new director at the Cleveland Heights-University Heights Libraries. Kristin Casale, the library’s collections development manager, served as interim director during the search.

“I am honored to join the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library,” Littell said in the release. “Libraries have an incredible ability to bring people together and enrich lives through learning, discovery, and connection. I look forward to meeting our patrons, listening to the community, supporting our talented staff, and building on the library’s outstanding reputation for innovation, exceptional service, and community engagement.”

The library also recently hired Casey King as fiscal officer. King started on June 1, and replaces Jenn Hale, who accepted a position with the city of Shaker Heights.

The library director oversees a staff of 43 and a $3.6 million operating budget. The director is responsible for the overall daily operation and oversight of the library’s departments, collections, services, programs and facilities.

The fiscal officer directs the business and payroll functions of the library and ensures that all financial operations comply with state statutes.
