What’s in the weather forecast for week 3 of Greater Cincinnati’s high school football calendar?
Showers and thunderstorms will develop during the evening of Friday, Sept. 5, and continue into the morning of Saturday, Sept. 6, according to the National Weather Service office in Wilmington.
There is a risk of thunderstorms for most of the area. The risk of severe weather is considered marginal in the south and southeast portions of the region, according to weather service.
Rain chances start rising at 7 p.m. and last through early Saturday.
A few severe storms may be possible, especially across the southeast portion of our coverage area. The primary threat will be damaging winds and large hail, although a brief tornado cannot be ruled out.
A secondary cold front will also move east across our area late Friday afternoon into evening, leading to wind gusts in the 20 to 30 mph range. Afternoon highs will range from the mid-70s in the northwest to the upper 80s across the southeast.
Some shower activity will likely linger into Saturday morning, but should taper off from the west by the afternoon. Temperatures will be seasonably cool, with highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s.
Below-normal temperatures and dry conditions are forecast for Sunday, Sept. 7, through the beginning of next week. Temperatures will be in the 40s overnight and in the low 70s during the day.
