State patrol investigating fatal single-vehicle crash on Interstate 77

A Tuscarawas County man died Aug. 11, after his vehicle crashed along Interstate 77 south of New Philadelphia, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The patrol said the crash occurred at approximately 4:59 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-77 near mile post 74 in Jefferson Township. Michael A. Carr, 60, of Newcomerstown, was driving a 2006 Buick Lucerne that was pulling a 2027 Kara trailer when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck an embankment.

Carr was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office, Stone Creek Fire Department, York Township Fire Department, Smith Ambulance and Performance Towing. The crash remains under investigation.
