Stark Health Dept. offers Bingocize program for exercise & bingo fans

JACKSON TWP. ‒ The Stark County Health Department is partnering with the Northwest Stark Senior Citizens Center to offer Bingocize, which combines fun, education and exercise to help prevent fall-related injuries in older adults.

As part of the program, a trained facilitator will lead participants in exercises while breaks are taken for a game of bingo. Each week, participants will receive two hours of physical activity targeting upper and lower body strength. Knowledgechecks of fall risks and ways to decrease risk will also be provided.

Jennifer Macha, a certified community health worker with the Stark County Health Department, will facilitate the 10-week program.

The health department, at 7235 Whipple Ave. NW, will host Bingocize onTuesdays and Fridays at 10 a.m. starting June 2. Participants will learn about other health department services including vaccinations, blood pressure checks, and vision screenings. To register, call 330-451-1448.

The Northwest Stark Senior Citizens Center, 853 Locust St. in Canal Fulton, will offer Bingocize at 10 a.m. Mondays and Thursdays beginning June 1. Call 330-854-6307 to register.

Funding for the program is provided by the Ohio Older Adults Falls Prevention Coalition.
