Sheriff Eric Weisburn said in a news release that they will conduct roadside checks of drivers. He said they’ll be vigilant in detecting and apprehending impaired drivers.

The first checkpoint will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in the 300 block of East Lincolnway. The second will be from 8:30 to 11 p.m. in the 3600 block of Union Avenue SE.

The sheriff noted that impaired driving is never acceptable.

“Always make the responsible choice to plan ahead for a safe, sober ride home,” the release stated.
