Michigan State Police troopers weren’t kidding around when they got some extra help at a St. Joseph County crash scene Aug. 7.
They had responded to a motorcycle crash about 1:30 p.m. on River Road near Lambert Road in Lockport Township when a Nigerian Dwarf goat made an unexpected appearance, MSP Fifth District posted on X.
Troopers set a perimeter and requested a police dog track after a motorcycle crashed into a guardrail and the driver fled on foot into the woods.
“While evidence was being collected, the goat wandered in, jumped into the back of the MSP cruiser (the “Blue Goose”), and made it clear he wanted in on the action,” MSP posted on X.
“He also thought it was cool to trample upon the point of crash trying to shadow the trooper.”
MSP said the goat wasn’t happy not being selected for training and protested by returning to the Blue Goose.
“Troopers were unable to locate the fleeing operator, but they did gain a very determined—and highly unofficial—G-9 partner,” MSP posted.
