Columbus police Sgt. Joe Albert said two people may have been injured, and at least one was in critical condition. He said he did not know whether any employees were injured.

“No patients were involved,” Mount Carmel Health System said in an emailed statement. The incident involved “two colleagues,” according to the statement.

“The safety of our patients, visitors and colleagues is our topmost priority, and we are investigating the matter. The situation has been contained, and Mount Carmel East is open and serving patients,” the health system said.
