Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Shemar Stewart didn’t practice on Sept. 17 with an ankle injury. Stewart told The Enquirer he is dealing with a low ankle sprain and could be out a few weeks.
Cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt was limited with a hamstring injury and linebacker Logan Wilson was also limited with an ankle injury.
Taylor-Britt dealt with a hamstring injury during training camp that forced him to miss an extended period of time. Depending on his practice availability on Sept. 18, this could be an injury to keep an eye on as soft tissue injuries tend to linger.
Bengals defensive coordinator Al Golden was impressed with Taylor-Britt’s performance in the Week 2 win over the Jaguars.
The Bengals will need all of their starting cornerbacks this weekend in Minnesota as they prepare to face one of the NFL’s best wide receivers in Justin Jefferson with Minnesota. Fortunately for cornerbacks DJ Turner, Dax Hill and Taylor-Britt, they spent all training camp going up against Ja’Marr Chase and they believe that prepares them better anything.
“They have gleaned a lot of confidence from going against Tee and Ja’Marr all training camp,” Golden said. “This is a great challenge for us. End of the day, the structure has to be good in terms of what we are calling, how we are handling it. And man to man we have to win, we got to use our leverage. I see a confident group right now. I got to put them in better position on third down so we can get them off the field. I have failed them in that vein so far.”
