ALLIANCE ‒ Sheetz is tearing down its Alliance store and plans to build a newer, updated store that will be similar to its North Canton operation.
Demolition of the store at 236 W. State St. started last week.
A city official confirmed the project April 10. Signage at the store prior to demolition said the new store would open in September. There is a fence around the property.
The Altoona, Pennsylvania-based convenience store and gas station chain has more than 760 locations in seven states. The company announced April 7 that it would expand into Indiana with 100 stores there over the next decade.
Sheetz has several locations in Stark County, including two in Perry Township. The others are in Hartville, Jackson Township and North Canton. There are plans to build a location in Massillon.
The North Canton location was rebuilt in 2025.
