Sammy Kershaw cancels Ohio State Fair performance

Sammy Kershaw has canceled his Aug. 2 performance at the Ohio State Fair due to an unspecified illness.

The cancellation was announced in a press release sent by the Ohio State Fair at around 6 p.m. on Aug. 1, the same day Alison Krauss & Union Station were set to perform at the fair, but also canceled their show due to an unspecified illness.

The Ohio State Fair cancellation comes after two other cancellations on Kershaw’s tour, including the Delaware State Fair on July 31 and a show in Huntsville, Alabama, on Aug. 1.

Concert tickets purchased for the Kershaw show will automatically be valid for the Aaron Tippin concert, who is the replacement performer, according to the press release.

Tippin, a country music star known for his honky-tonk sound and working-class songs, has released hits like “There Ain’t Nothin’ Wrong With The Radio” and “Kiss This.”

Those who purchased tickets for Kershaw’s show but do not wish to attend Tippin’s concert are eligible for refunds. More information can be found at ohiostatefair.com.

The lineup of concerts at the Ohio State Fair features top performers like Nelly (Aug. 4), “Weird Al” Yankovic (Aug. 5) and more.

The state fair runs until Aug. 9 at the Ohio Expo Center & State Fairgrounds, 717 E. 17th Ave.
