“I met Amanda, my third-shift nurse, while I was in the ER,” Jacobson’s nominator wrote. “She was extremely professional, kind and thoughtful the entire time, going above and beyond my expectations. I have never received such responsive care in my life, and she truly deserves the Daisy Award.”

Medical Center Nursing Director Leigh Knife said Jacobson has the right demeanor for the emergency room.

“In the fast-paced environment of our Emergency Department, Amanda consistently serves as a calming presence for patients during their most difficult moments,” she said. “Her clinical expertise, professionalism and genuine kindness embody the true spirit of the DAISY Award.”

As a DAISY Award winner, Jacobson received a certificate and $100 award given on behalf of the George Kimble Scholarship, established in 2012 in memory of patient George H. Kimble.

“We launched the DAISY Award program to honor and recognize the excellent care that our nurses are practicing, and to highlight those who demonstrate our organization’s ICARE values of integrity, compassion, accountability, respect and excellence,” Knife said.
