Loan approved for supply wells
The Tuscarawas Water and Sewer District has been approved for a loan of $192,471 at 3.94% for 20 years through the Ohio Water Development Authority, for improvements to two supply wells in the Baltic Wellfield and test drilling for an additional well to increase capacity.
Raffle for gift cards to Riesbeck’s
The Newcomerstown Auxiliary is conducting a raffle to support the Newcomerstown Fire Department.
Tickets are $10 and only 100 will be sold. Two winners will receive a $250 gift card to Riesbeck’s. The drawing will be held live on Facebook on June 30. For tickets call Josh Lesser at 330-786-6498.
BBBC students earn top spots
Several members of the Buckeye Career Center Business Professionals of America (BPA) chapter earned top rankings at the recent Business Professionals of America National Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tennessee.
Madison Harmon (Claymont) earned third place in Intermediate Word Processing. Also earning a top spot was Kaiden Pack (Strasburg), who finished fifth in Computer Network Technology. Both students are two-time national winners.
Other students who competed include Logan McPeek (Indian Valley), Jaxon Jones (Garaway), Evan Russell (New Phila), Jackson Rice (BCC), Bobbie Brown (New Phila), Isadore Hanlin (Malvern), Jaylyn Young (Indian Valley), Jenna Troyer and Mosheh Crossan.
Little Library in Zoar
The Tuscarawas County Public Library recently added a Little Free Library to the Kirsty Gaynor Memorial Park in Zoar. The project was in collaboration with Zoar Mayor Tom Klingaman and Fiscal Officer Emily Hayes. This is the 16th Little Free Library placed around the county since 2016.
Event to mark museum’s 90th anniversary
The Warther Museum in Dover will celebrate its 90th anniversary with WartherFest, a two-day event June 12-13 with family-friendly programming, tours, and special presentations tied to the legacy of Ernest Warther. For more information, visit thewarthermuseum.com.
Library offerings in June
The Tuscarawas County Public Library System is offering two kindergarten readiness programs, designed for preschoolers ages 4 and 5, in June at its Main Library, 121 Fair Ave. NW. On June 10 at 3:30 p.m., kids will explore an obstacle course, balance beam, and other activities. On June 17 at 3:30 p.m., kids will learn about patterns through fun games. An internet safety program for children in grades 2-5 will be offered at 6 p.m. June 22 and June 26 at the main library.
An animal encounter program Chicken Rex is 6 p.m. June 17, at the main library. It will give families the opportunity to interact with a chicken, the closest living species to dinosaurs. Registration is required.
Fire department to sponsor flea market
The Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department will hold a flea market from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 13 and will have a food stand on-site. A 12-foot by 12-foot space is $15. For more information, call Alice at 740-658-3779.
Accounting firm earns recognition
Rea, an Ohio-based business advisory and accounting firm based in New Philadelphia was ranked number 78 on Accounting Today’s 2026 Top 100 CPA Firm List nationally.
Rea was also recognized by Accounting Today in several key categories for 2026. It was named a top firm in the Great Lakes region, ranking 14th on the regional sublist, and was also recognized as a leader in audit and assurance and a leader in consulting among firms with revenues under $100 million.
Second Saturday
NEWCOMERSTOWN ‒ The Second Saturday Event will be June 13 at Newcomerstown High School. There will be a beer garden, kids activities, live music from 6 to 9 p.m. and fireworks at dusk. Vendor fees are $50 per space for a food truck, and $20 per space for vendors. Nonprofits may set up an informational table for free. ● Indian Valley Schools Board will meet at 7 p.m. June 15, at the board office.
● HARCATUS will meet at 1 p.m. June 24, at the First Church of the Nazarene Youth Building. The agency’s annual report will be released. Public comment is welcomed.
● Dover Schools Board will hold a public meeting regarding the rehiring of Brian Miller at 7 p.m. June 25, at the administration office. Miller is set to retire from a teaching position on May 29.
