Lyla Brunner poured in 13 of her game-high 26 points in a third-quarter onslaught Jan. 19, fueling the Lakewood girls basketball team in a 57-36 victory against visiting Newark Catholic in Licking County League-Cardinal Division play.
Jaylie Maas added 17 of her 22 points after halftime as the Lancers (7-8, 5-5) used a 26-9 edge in the third quarter to take a 42-30 lead to the fourth.
Leah Caudill led the Green Wave (5-10, 1-9) with 12 points. Sydney Gummer added 10 points and eight rebounds.
Granville falls
A 19-11 edge for Huber Heights Wayne (10-7) in the fourth quarter sent Granville to a 52-41 defeat at Big Walnut.
Davynn Miller scored 7 of her game-high 10 points in the third quarter for the Blue Aces (12-2). Lillian Rosendahl added 7 points.

Granville wins
Granville used a 15-7 edge in the third quarter to put away a 46-35 victory against Tecumseh (8-6) at Ohio Dominican.
Cayden Strasser scored 18 points to lead the Blue Aces (8-5), who took a 32-18 lead to the fourth quarter. Jakob Culver added 15 points.
