Ten people were hospitalized after a balcony fell about 20 feet from a Corryville apartment building. There may have been more injured people who drove themselves to the hospital, according to the fire department.

The person still being treated on Oct. 27 has been in critical condition since the incident about 10 days ago, according to a UC Health spokesperson.

The hospital’s adult Level I trauma center received eight patients from the balcony collapse that night.

M.B. Reilly, the University of Cincinnati spokesperson said that the university had identified the students injured on Friday, Oct. 17. She said “about a dozen” students were injured in the balcony collapse. Reilly also said the affected students are from more than one college at the University of Cincinnati.

Reilly could not confirm if the eight people taken to the UC Health Medical Center are UC students.

Where does the investigation into the collapse stand?

As of Friday, Oct. 24, the cause of the balcony collapse in the 200 block of Stetson Street remains under investigation, according to a spokesperson with the City of Cincinnati.

In accordance with orders given by the city’s Department of Buildings and Inspections on Oct. 20, the condominium’s Homeowner’s Association has brought on a forensic engineer to examine the collapsed structure.
