About 7,700 FirstEnergy customers were without power around 6:30 p.m. after storms rolled through Northeast Ohio. More than 4,400 customers in Akron were affected, according to the company’s website.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 9 p.m. for 24 counties in Ohio, including Summit.

Silver Lake said in an update on Facebook that numerous trees are down throughout the village, including: Outlook and Kent Road; South Park and Kent Road; Silverview and Harriett; Parkwood near Kent; Lee and Vincent; Millboro near Silver Lake Elementary.

People should not touch the trees because many are entangled in power lines, the village said.

Also, a utility pole at Landon and Kent Road should be avoided because of concerns.

The city of Tallmadge announced that these roads are closed because of downed trees, wires or poles: Washburn Road at Pine Valley; North Munroe Road at the roundabout; and 875 Treat Blvd.
