ASHLAND — The Ashland Symphony Orchestra and Grammy Award-winning Music Director and Conductor Michael Repper will present “Pops in the Park” at 8 p.m. June 28, at the Myers Memorial Band Shell.
The concert will include familiar patriotic standards as well as music by American composers George Gershwin, Henry Mancini, and John Williams.
The ASO will have sparklers and paper bags for the first 1,500 attendees. Paper bags will be popped on cue by Repper during the 1812 Overture and sparklers will be lit during God Bless America.
Special guests include Tom Reed, ASO Principal Clarinet, performing a Gershwin Clarinet Medley; local author and Vietnam Veteran Greg Gorrell, introducing the branches of the military during the Armed Forces Salute; and ASO Fan Club member and conducting student Kayla Selan, leading the orchestra for Stars and Stripes Forever.
