A woman was driving a Lincoln Town Car northbound on Georgesville Road at 12:42 p.m. June 30 and attempted to make a left turn onto Automall Drive, police said.

A Freightliner semi-truck southbound on Georgesville Road struck the passenger side of the vehicle.

The driver of the Lincoln, also injured in the crash, was transported to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center in critical condition. Hewett was pronounced dead at OhioHealth Doctors Hospital at 1:30 p.m.

The semi-truck driver took himself to Doctors West Hospital for evaluation, police said.

Columbus Fire Battalion Chief Jeffrey Geitter said that both of the occupants in the Lincoln had to be extricated. The semi-truck driver received treatment at the scene, said Geitter.

The southbound lanes on Georgesville Road were temporarily closed while police investigated the crash. The lanes reopened at 5:07 p.m., a dispatcher said.
