Pataskala woman killed, four other people injured as 2 minivans crash in Licking County

A woman died and four more were injured in a crash in Licking County after a driver failed to yield at a stop sign, the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Granville post reports.

The highway patrol responded at 1:06 p.m. on June 27 to a two-vehicle crash at State Route 16 and Gale Road.

Donna Porter, 68, of Grove City, was driving a 2019 Toyota Sienna minivan northbound on Gale Road with two juvenile passengers stopped at the stop sign at State Route 16, the patrol reported. Porter then failed to yield to an eastbound 2012 Mazda 5 minivan driven by Sandra Welch, 60, of Pataskala, which struck the Toyota minivan, the patrol said.

Welch and her passenger, 38-year-old Crystal Mason, were seriously injured and transported to Mount Carmel East Hospital on Columbus’ Far East Side, the highway patrol said. Welch was later pronounced dead at the hospital, the patrol said.

Porter was also transported with serious injuries to Mount Carmel East, and her two juvenile passengers were transported for treatment of minor injuries, the patrol said.

The crash remains under investigation, the patrol said, and no charges or citations were reported in the release.
