One dead in head-on crash in Mifflin Township, sheriff's office says

One person died in a head-on crash in Mifflin Township, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said.

A Buick LaCrosse southbound on State Route 3 just south of Ferris Road crossed into the roadway’s northbound lanes at about 10 p.m. Aug. 28, according to a Franklin County Sheriff’s Office news release.

The Buick struck a northbound Honda Pilot head on, according to the news release.

The driver of the Buick was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and pronounced dead there at 10:44 p.m., according to the news release. Medics transported the Honda’s driver to a local hospital in stable condition.

The sheriff’s office said it wasn’t clear why the Buick crossed into the northbound lanes. The sheriff’s office has not identified the Buick’s driver.
