Ohio State women's basketball nabs 5-star guard

The Ohio State women’s basketball team added a key piece to its 2027 recruiting class.

Guard Mya Wilson announced her commitment to Ohio State, picking the Buckeyes over Iowa, Minnesota, and TCU. Wilson is a five-star according to the 247Sports composite, playing out of Hill-Murray School in Maplewood, Minnesota. She ranks No. 44 nationally in the 2027 recruiting cycle, and the No. 1 prospect from Minnesota.

Wilson will be bringing in a well-rounded game when she steps foot in Columbus. She has already surpassed 2,000 points in her high school career, showing her scoring touch with a 44-point game in her junior season. According to Brandon Clay, a scout for 24/7, “She can score the basketball and is very comfortable going to her right to get a bucket. Wilson’s ability to space the floor with her 3-point shooting is a potential calling card of sorts at the college level.”

For Ohio State, the commitment can add momentum to a program that is expected to remain competitive in the Big Ten. The Buckeyes finished the 2025-26 season with a 27-8 record and ranked No.17 in the final AP poll. The program has won at least 25 games in five straight seasons now proving to be one of the most consistent programs in the country.
