Ohio State tennis teams begin NCAA Tournament in Columbus. Learn more

Ohio State tennis earned No. 3 seeds in both the men’s and women’s NCAA Tournament and will compete in the first round at the Auer Tennis Complex on the university campus this weekend.

The men will play their first-round match against Buffalo on May 1 and will host the opening-round match for the 19th time in the past 20 years. Ohio State is 16-1 at home this season and has swept 13 opponents.

Two men’s players, Aidan Kim and Nikita Filin, earned spots on the Big Ten All-Tournament team. The Buckeyes finished second to Michigan State in the conference tournament in a match that lasted more than six hours due to weather delays.

The OSU women will host a regional for the sixth year in a row, playing Youngstown State on May 2. The Buckeyes won the Big Ten regular-season title with a 12-1 record. Ohio State was defeated by Michigan 4-2 in the Big Ten Tournament title match.

Ohio State’s Teah Chavez improved on her 2025 first-team All-Big Ten season by being named the 2026 conference player of the year. She finished the regular season 14-1 in dual play and 20-4 overall. Chavez was ranked No. 5 in the latest women’s singles rankings, per the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Date: May 2

Time: 1 p.m.

The Buckeyes will play vs. Youngstown State at 1 p.m. There is a match between Notre Dame and Arizona at the Auer Tennis Courts at 10 a.m. Admission for all the matches is free.
