Ohio State football’s Nov. 1 matchup against Penn State will be a “Wear Black” game, with fans encouraged to wear black Ohio State merchandise or attire.
Ohio State has organized a “Tradition Evolved” campaign, aimed at boosting the game-day atmosphere. As part of that, on Aug. 5 the Ohio State athletic department announced three color-out games to be implemented for the 2025-26 college football season.
The Penn State game is the final color-out home game of the season for Ohio State.

There are three color-out games planned for Ohio State football’s 2025-26 season, with the ‘Wear Black’ game wrapping up the new campaign of coordinated attire.
The Buckeyes have also begun ringing their Victory Bell before games. Archie Griffin sounded the bell for the Aug. 30 game against Texas in celebration of the 50th anniversary of his second Heisman trophy. Former coach John Cooper rang the bell before the Sept. 6 game against Grambling State.
Fans have also been encouraged to wave “THE towel,” a scarlet-colored towel with “THE” inscribed in bold font as a tribute to Ohio State changing its name to “The Ohio State University” in 1878. The towel was introduced at the Week 1 Texas game and will be used across all athletic events, according to the school’s website.
