MOHICAN TOWNSHIP — A North Ridgeville woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 30 and Ohio 89 in Ashland County.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash that occurred around 11:24 a.m. June 5.
Jeanette E. Vibbert, 66, of North Ridgeville, was operating a 2006 tan Hyundai Elantra sedan, traveling south on Ohio 89 and was attempting to go west on U.S. 30. Jason C. Hazen, 45, of Jeremosville, was operating a 2016 gray Jeep Cherokee SUV and traveling westbound on U.S. 30.
Initial investigation revealed that Vibbert failed to yield from the stop sign at the intersection with U.S. 30 westbound. Hazen struck Vibbert’s vehicle on the passenger side. Both vehicles then traveled off the south side U.S. 30 into the grass median, according to the patrol.
Vibbert was transported to Ohio Health Hospital Mansfield where she died.
Both Vibbert and Hazen were wearing their seatbelts at the time.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by Jeromesville Fire & EMS, Hayesville Fire & EMS, and Gearhart’s Towing.
