New Ohio Aldi store: Grand opening with freebies, giveaways, 'Golden Ticket.' Here's where

Low-cost grocery chain Aldi plans to open more than 225 stores in 2025, including several new Ohio locations as part of a nationwide expansion.

More than 40 Aldi stores have opened since the start of the year, with many more opening ahead of summer. As of 2025, two new Aldi stores have opened in Ohio: Garfield Heights (12782 Rockside Road) and Streetsboro (9570 State Route 14).

Akron Aldi grand opening on May 22 includes $500 giveaway

Ohio’s newest location in Akron (1890 West Market Street) will to open on May 22, 2025. The grand opening will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony about 30 minutes before the store opens. In-store shoppers can enter a contest between May 22 and May 25 for a chance to win a $500 ALDI gift card.

First 100 customers at Akron Aldi opening to receive ‘Golden Ticket’ worth up to $100

Attendees will receive a free Aldi shopping tote (while supplies last), and on that day, the first 100 customers will get a free goodie bag with Aldi products. The first 100 customers will also receive a “Golden Ticket” that could be worth up to $100.

How many Aldi locations are there in Ohio?

Ahead of the Akron grand opening, Ohio has 170 Aldi locations, including nine in Columbus, seven in Cincinnati, and five in Akron. To find a location near you, visit Aldi’s website.
