Travis and Jason Kelce discussed a Northern Kentucky football legend on their latest ‘New Heights’ podcast, speaking about former Highlands High School and University of Kentucky quarterback Jared Lorenzen.
“There’s never been a quarterback I’ve enjoyed watching more than Jared Lorenzen,” Jason said before the brothers, and former University of Cincinnati standouts, began watching highlights of Lorenzen’s career.
“These are the types of dudes as kids, man… this is what fueled you as a f—— football player, man,” Travis said as highlights from Lorenzen’s time in college played.
Lorenzen, who died in 2019, is a 1999 Highlands graduate. He was named Kentucky Mr. Football for the 1998 season, when he led the Bluebirds to a 15-0 record and a state championship. He threw for 3,392 yards and 45 touchdowns that season, and rushed for 904 yards and 15 scores.
He then went on to be a record-setting quarterback at UK, before backing up Eli Manning at quarterback for the New York Giants.
