Miami RedHawks junior Eian Elmer to enter transfer portal

Miami RedHawks junior Eian Elmer has announced that he will enter the transfer portal. The news was first reported by Jonathan Givony.

The 2023 Taft graduate was the fourth-leading scorer for Travis Steele’s squad last season, averaging 12.7 points to go with 5.9 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.2 assists per game.

When Evan Ipsaro’s season ended after just 12 games, Elmer stepped up when the RedHawks needed him most. He scored 25 points in a road win at Kent State and followed it up with 30 points on 6-of-11 three-point shooting and seven rebounds in a two-point home win over Massachusetts.

He scored a career-high 32 points with 12 rebounds, to help the RedHawks complete a 31-0 regular season with a 110-108 overtime win at Ohio. It was his only double-double of the season.

Elmer scored a game-high 23 points, including an electrifying one-handed dunk and several crucial three-pointers, in an NCAA Tournament First Four win over SMU on March 18.

His announcement means that Miami will be losing three of its top four scorers from this season as Mid-American Conference Player of the Year Peter Suder is graduating and junior Brant Byers also announced his intention to enter the transfer portal.
