Here are the selections for the Wooster Daily Record All-Area Boys and Girls Golf team for the 2025 season:
Wooster Daily Record All-Area Boys Golf Team
Burk Hughes, Chippewa, senior
Hughes was a Wayne County Athletic League Second Team performer for a Chipps team that finished fourth in the WCAL this season.
Thad Weaver, Dalton, junior
Weaver was a WCAL First Team selection in his junior year as he won a Division III individual title at the sectional tournament with a 74. At the district tournament in the Northeast District, Weaver was one of the top three individual qualifiers not on a qualifying state team to advance to the state tournament by finishing tied for ninth overall with an 81. He ended up qualifying for a playoff by making a par on the first hole that proved to be enough to advance.
At the Division III state tournament, Weaver placed tied for 30th with a score of 163, shooting 85 on Day 1 and 78 on Day 2.
Jack Mast, Hiland, senior
The Inter Valley Conference Player of the Year helped guide Hiland to Division III district and sectional team titles in the postseason as well as a third-place team finish at the state tournament. Mast earned All-Ohio honors at NorthStar Golf Club with a three-way tie for third place, shooting 70 on Day 1 and 78 on Day 2 for a total score of 148.
Mast was also a Division III individual district champion by shooting a 72 and placed third individually at the sectional tournament with a 73.
Andrew Beun, Hiland, junior
Beun joined his teammate at state as he was to an All-Ohio medalist, placing eighth individually by shooting a 79 on Day 1 and 74 on Day 2 for a total score of 153.
Jesse Conn, sophomore, Hiland; Grant Bille, junior, Hiland
Conn and Bille were both key components in Hiland winning district and sectional team titles, and going third at the state tournament. They both placed in the top 55 individually as Conn was 43rd (score of 169) and Bille was 53rd (score of 179).
AJ Brown, Hillsdale, senior
Brown was an WCAL First Team pick, while helping lead Hillsdale to the district tournament.
Jacob Ott, Orrville, junior
A Principals Athletic Conference First Team performer, Ott was a Division II sectional champion (shot a 75 at sectionals) and a district qualifier, where he placed 44th (shot 85).
Drew Alexander, Orrville, senior; Kellen Wyat, Orrville, senior
Alexander and Wyat joined Ott on the PAC First Team, while helping guide Orrville to the district title as a team.
Owen Ward, Smithville, junior; Mason Shutt, Smithville, senior
Shutt and Ward both led the way for the Smithies this season as both earned WCAL First Team honors and advanced to the district tournament by each shooting 80 and coming tied for fifth at sectionals. At districts they both shot 83 and tied for 14th individually.
Elijah Cockrill, Tuslaw, sophomore
A PAC First Teamer for the PAC team champions, Cockrill placed third individually at sectionals with a 78 and earned a spot as a district qualifier.
Nick Lytle, Tuslaw, junior
A PAC First Teamer, Lytle was tied for fourth at sectionals (79) and a Division II district qualifier.
Jordan Miller, Waynedale, senior
Arguably the top boys golf performer this fall, Miller capped off his preps career with All-Ohio honors at the Division II state meet as he finished sixth overall with an 78.
(The Division II boys golf tournament only took place for one day instead of the scheduled two days because of inclement weather as the OHSAA went off of the Day 1 results.)
Miller led Waynedale to a ninth-place finish at state, second-place at districts, a team sectional title and WCAL title. Miller also earned WCAL Player of the Year.
Logan Troyer, Waynedale, junior; Cooper Miller, Waynedale, freshman; Hank Miller, Waynedale, senior
Troyer (tied for 55th at state), Cooper (tied for 55th at state) and Hank (tied for 35th at state) all played major roles in Waynedale having he level of team success they did in 2025. Troyer and Cooper tied for 20th at districts, while Hank tied for 25th.
Logan Allison, West Holmes, freshman
Allison was a Ohio Cardinal Conference Honorable Mention as a freshman.
Andon Hart, senior, Wooster; Colton Lawrence, Wooster, senior
Hart was a OCC Second Team performer as a senior, while Lawrence earned OCC Honorable Mention.
Wooster Daily Record All-Area Girls Golf Team
Kylie Miller, Hiland, senior
Miller earned a spot on the Inter Valley Conference First Team and was fifth at sectionals with an 83, making her one of the top four individual qualifiers not on a qualifying team to advance. At districts she fell short of making it to state, but placed seventh overall with an 86.
Kylie Hostetler, Norwayne, senior
Hostetler is the only girls two-time district qualifier in Norwayne school history as she made her second straight district tournament appearance this season. She finished ninth overall individually (91) at sectionals and was tied for 36th (96) at districts.
Aubrey Burchfield, West Holmes, sophomore
Burchfield led West Holmes to a second-place team finish at the Ohio Cardinal Conference meet and at sectionals. She was a OCC First Team performer (fourth at the OCC Meet), third at sectionals and a Division I district qualifer.
Sophie Robb, West Holmes, freshmen
In her freshman year, Robb earned a spot on the OCC First Team, finished runner-up at the OCC meet, tied for fourth at sectionals and was a Division I district qualifier.
Mattie Shenkel, West Holmes, freshman
Shenkel was a OCC First Team choice and placed seventh at the OCC meet.
Ava Scott, Wooster, sophomore
Scott made the OCC Second Team and finished ninth at the OCC meet. She had the lowest individual score for Wooster at sectionals with an 88 (tied for 20th).
Hailey Bode, Wooster, junior
Earned a place on the OCC First Team and was third overall at the OCC meet.
Ella Scott, Wooster, sophomore
Was a OCC Second Team performer and was 10th overall at the OCC meet.
