Maps show Ohio spring temperature, precipitation forecast

Predicted storms the night of Jan. 8 are the latest in a round of winter weather for Ohio. Lucky for us, the snow won’t stick around forever because spring will arrive in a matter of weeks.

But what will the spring weather look like this year? What temperatures can we expect? How much rain and snow will fall?

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has released its three-month weather outlook for March, April and May 2026. What does it predict for Ohio’s spring weather? Let’s take a look.

Ohio’s spring seasonal temperature prediction for March, April and May

According to the NOAA, all of Ohio will be leaning toward above-normal temperatures this spring. For much of Ohio, temperatures have 33–40% chances of being be warmer than usual. A thin band stretching across southeast Ohio to the Ohio-Pennsylvania-West Virginia border has 40–50% greater chances of seeing temperatures warmer than average.

The average temperature in Ohio from March to May in 2025 was 52.4 degrees Fahrenheit, according to the National Centers for Environmental Information. That was nearly three degrees lower compared to 2024.

Ohio’s precipitation outlook for March, April and May

Ohioans may be eager for sunny skies this spring, but the NOAA predicts a wetter-than-usual spring for most of the Buckeye State. Ohio will have an above-normal probability of rain and snow, perhaps 33–40% more than usual.

NOAA predicts a swath of southern Ohio, starting near Cincinnati and arcing toward the Ohio-Pennsylvania-West Virginia border, to have equal chances of normal seasonal precipitation.
