An assistant law director for the city of Mansfield has been fired from his job.
David Homer was on the staff of Law Director Rollie Harper. According to a letter in Homer’s personnel file, which the News Journal obtained through a public records request, his employment was “terminated effective immediately” on June 3.
“Your final paycheck will be provided to you on June 26,” the letter from Harper said.
Homer’s benefits were to continue through June 30. He was to turn in his employee security badge and parking placard, as well as any property of the law director’s office, immediately.
Homer’s personnel file did not provide any information on why he was fired or any mention of discipline. Harper did not respond to a request for comment left by the News Journal.
Homer joined Harper’s staff on Jan. 1, 2024. As of Jan. 1, 2026, Homer’s annual salary was $75,324.
With 41 years of experience, Homer practiced as a defense attorney in Mansfield for many years. He also served as an assistant prosecutor with Morrow County from 2011 to 2022.
