Jose Ramirez returning to Cleveland Guardians lineup vs. St. Louis today

CLEVELAND — The Guardians will have All-Star third baseman Jose Ramirez back in the lineup as they host the St. Louis Cardinals on June 28.

Ramirez returns to the lineup after missing the Guardians’ June 27 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.

Ramirez’s absence was the result of hit by pitch causing a contusion in his forearm. Ramirez was hit by a 95 mph fastball from Toronto’s Kevin Gausman and left the June 26 game against the Blue Jays in the fourth inning.

The Guardians initially set no timetable for his return.

“We’re going to go day to day,” Guardians manager Stephen Vogt said June 27. “We’re hoping that he can be back here tomorrow (June 28), but we have to see how he feels.”
