Jose Ramirez remains a mainstay in the starting lineup for the American League.
Ramirez was announced as an All-Star Game starter, as revealed on a live July 2 ESPN broadcast. He was a finalist at third base along with the Red Sox’s Alex Bregman.
It was Ramirez’s seventh All-Star Game selection and the fourth time he’ll be in the starting lineup for the AL, barring any injuries. It hasn’t yet been announced if he’ll return to the Home Run Derby as well.
Bob Feller holds the franchise record with eight All-Star selections.
Ramirez has had an outstanding 2025 season to date, slashing .305/.367/.493 with 13 home runs, 16 doubles, 38 RBIs and 21 stolen bases. His 3.2 fWAR is sixth among all hitters in the American League.
Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan was a finalist but was not selected to be in the starting lineup. Last year, he joined Ramirez in earning that distinction. Aaron Judge, Riley Greene and Javy Baez will instead get the start as the AL’s outfielders.
When will the full rosters for the 2025 MLB All-Star Game be announced?
The rest of the rosters, including pitchers and reserve position players, will be announced at 5:30 p.m. July 6 during an ESPN broadcast. Pitchers and reserves, which will total 23 players for both the American League and the National League and feature at least one player from every club, will be decided via a player ballot and selections from the commissioner’s office.
When is the 2025 MLB All-Star Game?
The 2025 MLB All-Star Game is set for July 15 at Truist Park in Atlanta.
