The Cincinnati Bengals enjoy an embarrassment of riches at the wide receiver position.
That’s not unusual in Cincinnati, as wideout is one of those spots the team historically excels at drafting.
But Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins? It’s a whole different level of success.
Chase is the NFL’s top wideout. That’s generally agreed upon, even by fans of the biggest rivals. And he slots first overall in a new poll from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler that took into account the opinions of NFL executives, coaches and other personnel.
“He’s the best I’ve gone against,” an NFL head coach told Fowler. “He can break it for 80 [yards] at any time.”
Chase has evolved his game inside and out, too, which finally gets some national love in the poll.
One coach said this to Fowler: “He showed over the past two years or so that he can play inside and outside. [The Bengals] moved him around more, and he’s gotten better as the ultimate chess piece.”
No fun quotes about Tee Higgins, but Chase’s running mate does chart on the list in the “also receiving votes” section. Some might argue he should be even higher, but this means he’s still within the top 25 wide receivers in the entire NFL, in the minds of those around the league, who would certainly know best.
So indeed, an embarrassment of riches. And there’s no reason to think both Chase and Higgins won’t stick around on these lists into 2027 and beyond.
