It's hot outside! But when was the hottest day ever recorded in Ohio?

Temperatures all over the country are expected to reach scorching highs this week and persist through the weekend due to a phenomenon known as a “heat dome.” Ohio thermometers will be in the high 90s. When you take the Midwestern humidity into account, we’ll be pushing near 104 degrees in the “feels-like” heat index category.

What is the highest heat index ever?

The highest heat index was recorded in Southern Iran last year, according to Global Climate Risks.

At Dayrestan International Airport, Iran, the temperature was 180 degrees, with a dew point of 97 degrees. This potentially marked the highest temperature index ever documented on Earth.

What is the hottest day ever recorded in Ohio?

The hottest actual temperature (without considering humidity) ever recorded in Ohio was 113 degrees near Gallipolis in southern Ohio, on July 21, 1934, per a story by the Columbus Dispatch.
