It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s the premiere of the new “Superman” movie!

It’s the premiere many superhero fans have been waiting for, and it’s almost here. Here’s what to know about the new Superman movie, a couple of fun facts, the recognizable Ohio filming locations and how to get tickets.

‘Superman’ filming locations in Ohio

Some principal photography and filming for “Superman” took place in Cleveland, Cincinnati and Mentor, Ohio, according to IMDb.

Filming happened in Cleveland at a Superior Avenue set with Metropolis police cars, boulders and a military tank on the street in mid-2024, according to Cleveland.com. Cleveland’s baseball stadium, Progressive Field, can be seen prominently in the movie’s trailer.

Shooting also took place in Cincinnati at Union Terminal and the Lytle Tunnel, The Enquirer reported. Filmmakers sought police officers and “a few short people” to be extras in the film.

Superman, directed by James Gunn, will release on July 11.

Ohio representatives want to make Superman the state’s official superhero

Did you know that Superman was born in Ohio? Ohio natives Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster created Superman in 1938.

Now, Ohio representatives want to make Superman Ohio’s official superhero. The bill’s primary sponsors include representatives Adam Matthews (R-Lebanon) and Terrence Upchurch (D-Cleveland). The bill states:

Beginning on April 18, 2033, in recognition of the cultural significance of “Superman” entering the public domain, the character “Superman” is adopted as the official superhero of the state. The first publication including the character Superman occurred on April 18, 1938.
