Isaiah Bond showing he can elevate Browns' offense to the next level

The lynchpin for the Cleveland offense, specifically the wide receiving core, is finding out what Isaiah Bond can truly bring to the table for this offense.

Last year, on a weekly basis, Bond was running scott-free behind the defense, and his quarterbacks simply could not get him the football. He was finally unleashed against the Las Vegas Raiders for a massive 56-yard catch that set up a Browns score, but other than that, there was missed opportunity after missed opportunity.

Just as it is for everyone, 2026 is a clean slate for Bond, and from the looks of it, he is taking full advantage of a renewed opportunity under his head coach, Todd Monken.

One of Monken’s calling cards as a coach and as a play caller is his ability to fit his offenses to his players. He is not a coach who goes and requests a certain type of receiver or a certain type of running back. Rather, he is a guy who takes what he has and finds the best ways to use that player.

For Bond and frankly the rest of the offense, that is absolutely the best-case scenario. So far in OTAs Bond has been one of the guys who have stood out with his performance. Just on Wednesday, he caught a back shoulder fade in the low redzone as a 5’11” slot style receiver.

The day before, on Tuesday, Deshaun Watson hit him right in the “0” on a crossing route where he didn’t even have to break stride and continued up the sidelines. In week one, he even had a play where he routed up the defender with a whip route double move that he nailed to create some open space.

He is showing that he can be a weapon at all levels of the defense and at all levels of the field.

For me, that is the type of growth that you want to see out of a second-year player. Bond went from being a deep threat and a big-play guy in college; he proved he can do that at this level, but has now elevated his game to be effective on all levels of the field.

His growth has been impressive, and if he can prove he needs to be on this roster and needs the ball in his hands, then, man, the Browns’ offensive weaponry becomes very deep. It’s hard not to get excited about an offensive set with Quinshon Judkins in the backfield, Denzel Boston as the “X,” Jerry Jeudy as the “Z,” KC Concepcion as the “Y,” and Isaiah Bond as the “H.” Whatever defense is defending, that had better be fast.

That is exactly what Isaiah Bond could unlock for this offense.
