The Hudson Middle School Science Olympiad team recently put on another dominating performance, winning the Allendale Michigan Science Olympiad tournament.
There were more than 20 teams in attendance at this late February tournament, and Hudson earned first, second, and third place. This was only the second time the team has traveled out of the state to compete, the first-time being May 2025 when they went to the US National Championships in Lincoln Nebraska. The team earned 46 medals, including first place in 14 of the 23 events.

Hudson volunteers ran the events Hovercraft and Mission Possible, and assisted with a number of other events like Experimental Design. Head Coach Jordan Renna stated that “taking the students on the road was a great way to remind us we have an elite program, one of the best in the country.”
“We still have work to do, and some challenges remain in front of us, but thinking back to where we were when we gathered in the school auditorium for our first team meeting in September, it is obvious we have come a very long way. Everyone has worked hard, put in time and effort, and grown immensely,” Renna stated.
The team is supported by the local community, including sponsors Hudson Community Foundation, Burton D. Morgan Foundation, Curtiss-Wright, HB Chemical, and Hudson Kiwanis, along with many individual donors. The middle school administration and custodial staff have been supportive and a big reason for the success of the program. Assistant Coach Chirag Patel stated that “this was a great way to conclude the regular season, and we are excited to focus our attention on the Eastern Regional Science Olympiad Tournament hosted by the University of Akron in mid-March and the State tournament hosted by Ohio State in mid-April.”
