TSA agents may have some little-known secrets of the jobs, but this is no secret – the Transportation Security Administration is offering a discount for those considering purchasing a TSA PreCheck membership to skip long airport security lines, but only for some travelers.
Here are the details on who is eligible.
TSA offers a TSA PreCheck discount for the summer for a specific group of travelers
Due to increased travel during the summer, TSA is offering this limited-time promotion through the end of the month, according to CN Traveler.
This TSA PreCheck deal gives a $20 discount to first-time applicants 30 and under on the new five-year membership.
This promotion marks the first broad age-based discount TSA has offered for the program, lowering the enrollment cost to as little as $57 for those who qualify.
When does the TSA PreCheck promotion end?
The last day to get the discount for the TSA PreCheck program is May 31.
What is TSA PreCheck?
According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website, the TSA PreCheck program permits a traveler to easily navigate through screening at participating TSA security checkpoints, allowing them to skip the long TSA lines with a membership.
How to check TSA wait times at Ohio airports
If you’re headed to an Ohio airport like John Glenn International or Rickenbacker in Columbus, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport or Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, you can monitor TSA wait times before you make your way to the airport.
The MyTSA App allows passengers to see TSA wait times at their airport, providing 24/7 access to the most frequently requested airport security information on any mobile device, according to the TSA’s website.
You can download the MyTSA App on most personal devices.
TSA may charge fee to get through security if you forget Real ID, passport
In November 2025, TSA revealed it would start requiring non-Real ID travelers to pay an $18 fee to get through security at the airport starting Feb. 1, 2026. Shortly after announcing the charge, the administration increased the cost to $45.
Under the new rule, travelers without the required identification, such as a Real ID or passport, have their identity verified at a new biometric kiosk system to pass a checkpoint. The fee covers the costs and resources used for the new technology, according to ABC News.
The fee and new technology allow passengers to pass through a checkpoint without ID for 10 days if they travel again within that timeframe.
