Canal Quilters gets Elks Lodge grant
COSHOCTON − The Coshocton Elks Lodge recently donated $4,000 to the Coshocton Canal Quilters from an Elks National Foundation Gratitude Grant. Funding will got toward the group providing handmade quilts to local veterans during the holiday season.
Jacobs Vanaman wins best practices honor
COSHOCTON − The Jacobs Vanaman Agency was recently recognized as a Best Practice Agency for 2026 from the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America by participating in a best practices study, providing a comprehensive analysis of the business operations and performance of the insurance industry’s top-performing independent agencies. More than 1,190 agencies were nominated with 300 earning the designation. Jacobs Vanaman was founded in 1904.
McDonald completes farm succession training
ZANESVILLE − Attorney Susan McDonald of Gottlieb, Johnston, Beam & Dal Ponte has completed farm succession coordinator training from the Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute in Wooster. This certification is part of the new Ohio Farm Transition Network, a statewide initiative focused on helping Ohio farm families successfully plan for the transition of farms to the next generation. McDonald’s firm has offices in Zanesville and Coshocton.
FAO accepting conversation grant applications
NELSONVILLE − The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio is accepting grants for the Ora E. Anderson Conservation Fund for Appalachian Ohio through Sept. 29. Public and non-profit organizations and groups work in fiscal sponsorships with a non-profit or public agency in the 32 Appalachian Ohio counties are eligible to seek funding for conservation activities and programs. This includes areas such as watershed restoration, sustainable forest practices and promotion of the region’s cultural and environmental history. End of Summer Bash on court square
COSHOCTON − Church 925 is holding an End of Summer Bash from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 29 on the Coshocton Court Square. It will feature inflatables, vendors, games and giveaways for youth.
Craft show to benefit mounted police
COSHOCTON − A fundraising craft show to support the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office mounted patrol will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Coshocton County Community Room, 637 Chestnut St. Vendor fee is $25 until Aug. 29 and $30 after. Vendors are asked to donate an item for a door prize. There will also be a 50/50 drawing. A mounted patrol horse will be available for pictures. Coshocton EMS celebrates 50 years
COSHOCTON − Coshocton County Emergency Medical Services will have a 50 Years of Caring anniversary celebration from 2 to 5 p.m. Aug. 30 at the EMS headquarters, 724 Walnut St. The event, open to the public, will feature beverages and light desserts, anniversary shirts and a group photo of all past and present EMS personnel to be taken at 3 p.m. Shirts are $15 through extra-large and $20 for plus sizes. Pre-orders be accepted at the EMS station.

“American Pickers” shooting in Ohio
COSHOCTON – The television series “American Pickers” is scheduled to shoot footage for episodes in October in Ohio. The long running documentary series on the History Channel has individuals, or pickers, finding and purchasing antiques and rare and unusual items from people. They do not go to stores, flea markets, malls, auction houses, museums or places open to the public.
