Brass quintet to perform

West Lawn Cemetery, McKinley National Memorial tours
CANTON – The McKinley Presidential Library & Museum will present two cemetery walks at the historic West Lawn Cemetery at 10 a.m. Sept. 3 and 5. Both tours will begin at the museum, 800 McKinley Monument Drive NW.
The Sept. 3 cemetery walk, led by archivist Mark Holland, includes a behind-the-scenes Nooks & Crannies Tour of the McKinley National Memorial basement with Director of Education Ally Carlson. The cost is $20 per person. This is a two-hour walking tour with very few chances to sit down.
The Sept. 5 cemetery walk does not include a McKinley National Memorial Tour. The cost is $15 per person. This is a 90-minute walking tour with few chances to sit down.

Mentors needed for students
EAST CANTON – The Legacy Project of Stark County seeks volunteers to serve as mentors for students in the East Canton Local School District. For the 2026-27 school year, there is an immediate need for:
• Elementary school (12:10-12:40 p.m.): two female mentors and one male mentor • Middle school (12:55-1:25 p.m.): one male mentor • High school (11:30 a.m.-12:03 p.m.): one male mentor
Mentors work alongside another volunteer and meet with a small group of up to six students each week. The Legacy Project provides the FBI/BCI background check, training, curriculum, and all program materials. For more information, visit https://lpstark.org/become-a-mentor.
Dinner show features Patsy Cline’s music
JACKSON TWP. – Stardust Dinner Theatre will present the dinner tribute show “Always … Patsy Cline” from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Aug. 29 at La Pizzaria, 3656 Dressler Road NW. The show stars Guinevere Rhoads as Patsy Cline, backed by a live band and directed and produced by Spotlight Entertainment.
The show, based on the true story of the friendship between country music legend Patsy Cline and a devoted fan, Louise Seger, features more than 20 of Cline’s hits. Great Trail Festival
MALVERN – The 45th annual Great Trail Festival will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 29 through 30 and Sept. 5 through 7 at the Great Trail Festival grounds, 6331 Canton Road.
The Great Trail Festival is a celebration of living history, period music and American folk art. The site is between Malvern and Carrollton in Carroll County.

Lunchtime presentation about first ladies
MASSILLON – The Massillon Museum’s Brown Bag Lunch from 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. Aug. 25 in Gessner Hall will feature the presentation “First Ladies on the Lincoln Highway.”
Stephanie Bohnak, director of education and curatorial services for the National First Ladies Library and Museum, will explore unexpected connections between the historic roadway and the lives of first ladies and pioneering female travelers.
The program complements the museum’s main gallery exhibition, “Driving Forces: The Lincoln Highway Journey.” The museum is at 121 Lincoln Way E. Brown Bag Lunch events are open to everyone with no reservations required. Bring lunch or purchase at the TWiLite Café. There will be free cookies and coffee.
Massillon Museum accepting applications for art shows
MASSILLON – The Massillon Museum’s Studio M is accepting applications for exhibitions in two categories — one for professionals and another for students and recent graduates from Ohio colleges and universities. The application deadline for both categories is Sept. 24.
Professional artists may apply for an exhibition of about seven weeks in 2028. Solo entrants and groups of two artists will be considered. For more information and to apply, visit https://tinyurl.com/mt6fcjy9.
The student and recent graduate process to apply for a four-week show in early 2027 is open to any junior or senior art major attending a college or university in Ohio. Students who have graduated within one calendar year of application are also eligible. Entrants must be Massillon Museum members. Applications must be accompanied by a non-refundable $25 entry fee. Artwork may be for sale. Virtual author talk
NORTH CANTON – The North Canton Public Library, 185 N. Main St., will present a virtual author talk with Lucy Foley about her new Miss Marple mystery, “Murder at the Grand Alpine Hotel,” at 2 p.m. Aug. 27.
Participants will have a chance to win a copy of the book. The giveaway link will be in the resources area under the broadcast screen during the live event.
