Getting There: Front Street, Whittier Street Bridge in Brewery District reopen

Getting There is back again for your weekly dose of Columbus traffic news.

This week, good news for Brewery District commuters. The Whittier Street bridge that leads to the Scioto Audobon Metro Park has reopened, as has the stretch of Front Street surrounding it that was shut down for construction.

You can now drive cleanly to the Metro Park without having to wait for opposing traffic to take turns driving over the bridge. Neat!

But before you get too excited: don’t get the Whittier Street bridge confused with the Front Street bridge over Interstate 70 and Interstate 71. That bridge (and Front Street around it) is still under construction with an expected completion date in late summer 2025, according to ODOT.

Speaking of construction, State Route 315 in Delaware County between State Route 750 and Orange Road will be closed for 28 days starting July 14 as ODOT crews make drainage improvements. The ODOT recommended detour for the closure is U.S. Route 23 to State Route 750 to 315 or the same in reverse.

The 315 and Hyatts Road intersection will also close for 40 days starting on that date for roundabout construction. The detour for the closure is 23 to 750 to 315 or the same in reverse, while the Hyatts Road detour is 23 to Home Road to Liberty Road to Hyatts Road or the same in reverse.

Here are other traffic impacts you can expect in the near future.
