In Stark County, one store is closing soon, and another has already shuttered.

Three other Stark locations are staying open.

The GameStop at Canton Centre Mall, 4328 Tuscarawas St. W, is slated to close Jan.15, a store associate said Jan. 9.

“Sadly, our time is coming to an end,” said the Canton employee, adding that some associates will be taking positions at other GameStop locales in the county.

GameStop at Carousel Plaza, 3016 Atlantic Blvd. NE, Canton, has already closed, according to its website.

The stores at Belden Village, 5520 Dressler Road NW; 42 Massillon Marketplace Drive SW in Massillon, and 2218 W. State St. in Alliance, have no plans to close, according to associates at each location.

In 2025, the chain indicated that it would close a “significant number” of stores in coming months, the Erie Times-News reports. No list of GameStop stores that would close was included with the filings at the time.

Stores in Troy and Huber Heights will close this month, according to the Dayton Daily News. Two additional stores in Ohio, in Cambridge and Bryan, have announced closures, according to multiple Facebook posts.

GameStop had closed 1,000 stores worldwide over the preceding year, according to CNN.

The Columbus Dispatch contributed information to this report.
