Four people were injured in two dog attacks that happened the night of July 4 in Franklinton, according to a Columbus police dispatcher.
Police responded to reports of two dogs attacking people just before 9:10 p.m. in the 200 block of South Souder Avenue in Franklinton.
When officers arrived, one of them shot a dog that was attacking a man. Two other victims were taken to local hospitals in stable condition, while the man being attacked was taken in critical condition.
The condition of the dog that was shot remained unknown the following morning, according the police dispatcher said. The other dog involved in the attack remained on the loose.
Police also responded to a report of another dog attack at 9:30 p.m. on the 300 block of Glenwood Avenue, where a person told police their friend was attacked. The victim was injured but not taken to a hospital.
The same dogs from the Souder Avenue attacks may have been involved in the Glenwood Avenue attack, but police were unsure July 5 whether they were related, the dispatcher said.
The Columbus attacks come just two days after a 1-year-old girl died after her family’s dog attacked her July 2 in Tuscarawas County’s Dover Township, according to the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office.
