Former Fox 19 meteorologist Frank Marzullo returning to the air as anchor on WCPO 9

Former Fox 19 meteorologist Frank Marzullo will be back on the air in Cincinnati with a different station this fall.

Marzullo will co-anchor WCPO 9’s Good Morning Tri-State show starting in October, he announced in a post on Facebook.

The 18-year veteran meteorologist will join Kristen Skovira, meteorologist Jennifer Ketchmark and traffic anchor KJ Jacobs for the morning show, the station said in an article.

“I’ve always loved being part of this community and sharing stories that matter,” Marzullo said. “I’m especially proud to join a station with deep Cincinnati roots and a strong local culture.”

In February, Marzullo suddenly left Fox 19 after nearly two decades to “pursue other opportunities.”

Marzullo then left Cincinnati to join ABC-affilated WEWS 5’s weather-team part-time in early June, saying it was a temporary move while he looked for another job in Cincinnati.

He told a WVXU reporter in August he had been under a non-compete agreement for six months after his exit from Fox 19, leaving him unable to work in Cincinnati or talk about the weather.

Now, the broadcaster is stepping up to the anchor role with WCPO 9.

“Frank is well-known, respected and connected in the Cincinnati community,” said Jeff Brogan, vice president and general manager of the station. “His built-in trust fits in well with our Good Morning Tri-State team and will show up in his anchoring and reporting.”

Marzullo joins another one of his former Fox 19 colleagues at WCPO 9, Lauren Minor. Minor, the weekend morning anchor, will join Marzullo three mornings a week to report on the news of the day.

A Cleveland native, Marzullo was the morning meteorologist on Fox 19’s first alert weather team starting at 4:30 a.m. every weekday. He also hosted the morning news extra show for 14 years from 9 to 11 a.m.

Marzullo first joined Fox 19 in August 2007 after having spent seven years working at WFMJ, an NBC station in Youngstown, Ohio, where he was the weekday morning and noon weather forecaster. He also spent a year forecasting for WTAP, the NBC station in Parkersburg, West Virginia.
