Dublin veterinarian and her family killed in fatal I-71 crash

A Dublin veterinarian and her immediate family were the victims of the fatal multi-vehicle crash on April 11 on Interstate 71 in Delaware County, according to the animal hospital where she worked.

Muirfield Animal Hospital in Dublin announced in a memoriam on their Instagram page that Dr. Lynnea Soposki, a veterinarian at the hospital, was killed in a car accident over the weekend. A hospital staff member also confirmed to The Dispatch in a phone call that Soposki died along with her family in the crash in Delaware County.

Publicly available information shows that Soposki, 36, was married to husband, Luke Soposki, 37; and the couple had a 1-year-old baby named Logan. The family lived in Ashley, Delaware County, public records show.

The crash occurred at 6:27 p.m. on the northbound lanes of I-71 near the U.S. 36 and state Route 37 interchange when a 2006 Freightliner tractor-trailer failed to stop while approaching a traffic backup in a construction zone, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol. Three other people were also injured in the nine-vehicle crash that shut down traffic in both directions on I-71 for several hours, the patrol said.

Modou F. Ngom, 50, of Columbus, was driving the tractor-trailer, the patrol said. He has been charged with three counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and may face additional charges. He was arraigned April 13, and was ordered held on $500,000 bond.

Lynnea graduated from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016, according to her biography on the Muirfield Animal Hospital’s website. Her professional interests included feline medicine, geriatric care, behavior, neurology, and musculoskeletal conditions, according to the website.

According to her LinkedIn account, Lynnea was a small animal veterinarian with an interest in both traditional and integrative medicine. She was certified in Veterinary Spinal Manipulative Therapy from The Healing Oasis Wellness Center.

“I enjoy being a friendly face for my clients and work hard to educate my clients and design a collaborative approach to help treat their pet,” Lynnea wrote. “I have a strong interest in rehabilitative medicine and improving mobility of seniors, athletes, and every animal in-between.”

Lynnea’s husband, Luke, worked as an analytical chemist at Mettler-Toledo International in Columbus, according to his LinkedIn profile. He worked at the company for more than six years. He received his bachelor of science degree in biology and his post baccalaureate in secondary education and teaching from the State University of New York at Oneonta in 2010 and 2011, respectively.

Luke owned a beer brewing company called Blue Quill Brewing Company and previously placed as an individual in home-brewing competitions, including multiple categories in beer and in cider at the Ohio State Fair in 2017.

He also owned a beekeeping business called Queenright Cabin Apiary, through which he and Lynnea sold jars of honey, according to records from the Ohio Secretary of State.
