A Cincinnati Metro bus caught on fire in Symmes Township the morning of Friday, June 27.
According to Metro spokeswoman Brandy Jones, the driver noticed that the back driver’s side tire had exploded, which caused a spark that started the fire. The Loveland-Symmes Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services responded to the driver’s call at about 6:30 a.m. at Fields Ertle Road near Royal Point Drive.
There were no passengers on the bus. The driver was transported to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
“Thankfully, he’s fine.” Jones said.
Cincinnati Metro is still investigating how the fire happened and the condition of the bus, but Jones said that the bus is “probably going to be fully destroyed.
Jones thanked Loveland-Symmes Fire Department for their “swift” response.
