A Downtown sushi restaurant and cocktail bar is closing its doors.
Baru, known for bringing an elevated and exotic flair to its plates, will close immediately, the restaurant’s management announced on social media. June 1 was Baru’s last dinner service.
“From the beginning, our goal was to open with energy and bring an elevated sushi culture to downtown Cincinnati, and we are proud to have done just that,” management said.
Management said it is shifting its focus to Vintage on Race, its sports bar and lounge across the street. The post said Vintage holds “exciting potential for future growth.”
“We believe the Fountain District offers tremendous opportunity. It has been inspiring to witness its evolution in recent years,” management said.
Baru’s owner Tyler Wogenstahl did not immediately return a message from The Enquirer seeking more information.
Baru opened inside Cincinnati Center City Development Corp.’s 84.51° building in early 2023. It took the space of MidiCi, which closed in 2019.
Last September, a car crashed through the front door of Baru, injuring three and leaving its entryway blocked for weeks.
